Kevin A. Fernander, an associate with Tripp Scott, is a veteran litigator with extensive experience in jury and bench trials, as well as other judicial proceedings.
Fernander focuses his practice on disputes stemming from construction, land use, bid protests and general commercial litigation, contracts, negotiation for a public entity, liability and risk assessment, and legal issues involving employee relations, including hearing grievances and collective bargaining. His diverse practice includes the representation of business owners, recreational facilities, law enforcement agents, colleges and municipalities. In addition, he is currently general counsel for Broward College.
Prior to joining Tripp Scott, Fernander practiced with two Ft. Lauderdale-based firms. Before this, he worked in the Miami-Dade County Public Defender's Office.
Fernander was elected to the Miramar City Commission in 1997. He later served as vice mayor. Before this, he served for two years on the Miramar Planning and Zoning Board. In addition, he has experience with municipal, county and state regulations in the land use and zoning area and county and state incentive programs.
Active in the community, Fernander sits on the board for Habitat for Humanity.
Fernander holds a law degree from Quinnipiac College, Bridgeport School of Law, and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Florida State University.
