Richard L. Petrovich, an associate with Tripp Scott, focuses his practice on general commercial litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, he was a supervising assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney, where he most recently prosecuted DUI manslaughter cases. During his tenure with the state attorney's office, he also litigated cases involving accident reconstruction, pathology, toxicology, firearms, questioned documents, DNA, chemistry and forensic psychology.
As a law student, Petrovich interned for the Honorable Maria M. Korvick, Administrative Judge Probate Division, Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, and with the Economic Crimes section of the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida in Miami. In addition, he was a law clerk for an AV-rated boutique tax and estate planning firm in Coral Gables, Fla.
Active in the professional community, Petrovich is a member of the American Agricultural Law Association, the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association and the Broward County Bar Association, for which he serves on the Bench and Bar Committee. In 2007, he was appointed to serve a three-year term on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee 17J, which makes determinations of lawyers' violations of bar rules and whether discipline against the lawyer is warranted.
Petrovich holds a law degree, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and bachelors' degrees in political science from Florida Atlantic University and agricultural systems technology from Iowa State University, where he lettered in varsity football.
